Rocktober Surprise
By Sharon E. Cathcart
Long before I worked in the music scene, my fellow fans and I called this month Rocktober. It seemed like a good way to celebrate the tunes and artists we all loved. Now that I’m long out of the business, I can still celebrate the month with some fun rock fiction.
I had a lot of fun writing “The Rock Star in The Mirror (Or, How David Bowie Ruined My Life),” showing a slice of small-town Oregon life through the eyes of a young man with a crush on an ambitious fan. Every decision Joe makes in his pursuit of Lynnie exacts a price.
Susan Helene Gottfried, herself a rock fiction author, was the perfect editor for this piece, and was kind enough to ask if she could share my giveaway with her readers. Through October 17, you can get my award-nominated novella, “The Rock Star in the Mirror (Or, How David Bowie Ruined My Life),” free of charge with coupon XB54U at checkout.
