Susan’s been seeing this one on Facebook. I asked her why we didn’t just mention here ’cause everyone loves a sale. And this sale apparently is a limited time thing, although no one’s talking about when it’ll be over. Just that it’s happening.

It’s an eight-book box set, which is too much of a commitment for yours truly, but if you like that thing, grab it.

RESISTOR (Black Halo) by Madelynne Ellis ~ Sex is the last thing on his mind, or he wishes it was…Spook Mortensen has one rule when it comes to relationships: just say no. He has his reasons. Good reasons. His policy of total abstinence has kept him out of trouble for years. Sex ought to be the last thing on his mind, but whenever go-getting sound engineer Allegra Hutton shows up, she doesn’t just hijack his libido, she downright screws with hit. The only way to deal with her is to tie her up. Alle realises she’s upsetting Spook’s rhythm, but she’s under no illusion that he’s the right top to warm her bottom.

Some of these books are available separately, but not all, which is a bummer for people like me who download these huge things and then whimper at how big they are and how long it’s going to take me to read it. Maybe if someone involved sends it our way, I’ll make Susan read it. It’s not like she’s overdue with a review of her own…

Anyway, it’s super cheap. 99c for eight books. Man, how can these authors afford to live off THAT royalty?

Get it at Amazon.
Or at Barnes and Noble, for those of you who support the little guy.

There might be more; check your favorite retailers. And, as always, if you want to post your review of the whole thing, or any book by itself, The Rock of Pages is here for that. We love guest reviews!

So why am I starting with the second in a series? Good question and there’s no answer other than because it’s the book I came across first. Except… when I went back into the archives here (wow. We’ve been around long enough to have archives!), I’d already raved about the first book in the series, Three Nights with a Rock Star.

Kinda cool to keep raving about a series. Usually, it’s one and done for me.

Here’s the description.

Half-Life bassist Krist Mellas is caught in a PR nightmare after his dirty sex video blew up online. His agent has the solution: a fake engagement with sultry pop princess Madeline Fox. Krist can’t think of anything worse than a charade with the bubblegum bombshell…except losing the band.

Madeline knows better than anyone what it means to live a lie in the spotlight. She’s determined to help Krist without ever letting him find out what it costs her—or about her girlhood crush on him. But after a smoking hot back alley encounter with him leaves her breathless, she can’t deny she wants the snarling bad-boy rocker.

In a world of glitter and diamonds where the kisses are fake but the climaxes are real, their facades start to crack. And the publicity storm may shatter them both.

I get stuck right on that first concept. A rock star and a home sex video. Hello, Tommy Lee. Hello, Fred Durst. Hello, Kid Rock. Hello, Vince Neil.

Hey, those Motleys sure like their cameras.

Even Gene Simmons made a tape, purely for the promotional lift it gave him. Because since when does Gene do anything that’s not purely for the promotional lift?

You see the point. Especially in the current world, it’s domestic violence and rape that are the image destroyers (hello Ray Rice and yes, even Big Ben. Know how many people think Ben’s marriage was only to improve his image? The joke around town, I’ve heard, was that she was marrying him so she’d get to keep the house in a couple of years.). Not sex, and not sex from a guy whose career description is sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

If you get past that, the idea of the two radio stations, pop and rock, coming together in a relationship is what’s intriguing here. I don’t know if any of that’s going to come into play ’cause the set-up here is the old secret crush on the rock star. If it doesn’t, it’s sure opportunity wasted.

A few months ago, back closer to its release date, everyone was talking about this one. Even Susan’s friend Mary at Bookhounds has already read it.

But no one over here likes the Rock Fiction experts. Or else they just don’t know enough about us yet.

Yeah, that.

The book is Three Nights with a Rock Star, and here’s what it’s about

When Hailey crashes a Half-Life after party, she expects to find the bastard who knocked up her little sister. Instead she meets the sexy front-man who agrees to give her access to his crew if she gives him access to her body.

All Lock demands in return is three days of complete control over the Sunday School teacher. With a contract, because he’s been burned before. One misstep could send the band—and his tenuous sobriety—up in flames.

Hailey and Lock push each other’s limits… Against the penthouse window. Backstage. In the limo and on the elevator. But as the contract counts down, neither are ready for the party to end.

Glancing over the reviews from those lucky enough to get review copies, it seems they’re kinda mixed. Of course there’s some cliche going on here. The hot rock star, for starters. Makes me wonder what those people were expecting. And it’s a romance, so you know how it’s going to end.

What has me curious, beyond the sex, is who was dumb enough to knock up some chick. Why sister Chloe was on the road in the first place. Why someone so supposedly straight-laced as Hailey is willing to cut loose with someone like Lock, and why she thinks she’ll have time to play detective when she should be warming this dude’s bed. So to speak ’cause it doesn’t sound like they ever make use of a bed.

Yeah, gotta read this one all right.
